Hansa’s goal is to help educate children and adults alike about the natural lives of these magnificent creatures and to understand, respect and appreciate the importance of our co-existence with all animals.

Significant research goes into reproducing every animal species. The fabric for the spotted and striped animals is custom designed and exclusively manufactured in small quantities to Hansa’s exacting specifications. Their “coats” are meticulously cut by hand and trimmed, never stamped out by machine. Hand-sewn leather paws, swishing tails and especially soulful eyes and faces are lovingly detailed to give each piece its lifelike look. Each animal produced is hand finished by Hansa’s artists to create each with its very own unique personality. The life-sized animals have exceptionally strong yet lightweight titanium steel frames allowing children of all ages (up to 250 pounds) to actually go for a ride.

Artisans hand sew the animals "inside out," an old world tradition that results in the minimization of seams, and their bodies are carefully sculpted to create musculature and features, like movement in a walking or sitting position, that are unique to each creature. On average, there are 42 separate pieces required to make each animal that must be combined by a team of truly creative artists to create the distinctly realistic features characteristic of our Hansa animals. Some animals have as many as 240 different parts!
